Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Acuna (“Acuna”, “the app”, “we”, “us”) handles information. Acuna is published by Atlander, Unipessoal, Lda, a company registered in Portugal (NIF/NIPC 516934473), with registered office at Avenida Valbom 17, 2.º D, 2750-508 Cascais, Portugal (“Atlander”). Atlander is the data controller for the limited processing described below. You can contact us at support@acuna.app.

Acuna is built to be private. Your diary — the drinks you log, your targets, and everything you record — is stored on your device and, if you use iCloud, synced privately to your own iCloud so it comes back on a new phone. We do not collect it, we cannot see it, and it is never sent to us or to any server we operate. Acuna has no user accounts, asks for no email or sign-up to use, shows no ads, and does not track your behaviour.

1. The information you enter stays with you

When you use Acuna, the entries you create (for example: drinks logged, quantities, alcohol content, dates, your weekly targets, and settings) are stored locally on your device using your device’s standard on-device storage. This information:

Because we never receive this information, we cannot read it, export it, sell it, or share it. If you delete the app, the information stored on the device is removed from it; any copy held in your own iCloud remains under your control and can be deleted by you (see section 3).

2. What Acuna does not do

3. iCloud — your storage, not ours

Acuna uses Apple’s iCloud in two ways, both of which stay inside your own Apple account. Atlander has no access to either, receives no data from them, and holds no keys to them.

You control both. iCloud and iCloud Backup can be turned on or off in your device settings, and data Acuna holds in your iCloud can be removed there. Acuna works fully without iCloud — with it switched off, your diary simply stays on the device alone.

4. Purchases

After a free trial, continued use of Acuna requires an auto-renewing subscription (a monthly or a yearly plan). All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store and charged to your Apple Account. We do not receive or process your payment card details or billing information, and we are not told who subscribed. Apple may provide us with aggregated and/or anonymised sales reports (for example, the number of subscriptions in a country). Your use of the App Store and your Apple Account are governed by Apple’s terms and Privacy Policy. Managing, cancelling and refunding a subscription is handled by Apple, in your Apple Account settings.

To check whether a subscription is active, the app uses RevenueCat, Inc. (USA) as a processor. RevenueCat receives a randomly generated identifier for your installation, the purchase receipt issued by Apple, and basic technical details such as country, device model and app version. It does not receive your diary, your name, or your email address, and the identifier is not linked to any account — Acuna has none. RevenueCat processes this data on our behalf under a data processing agreement, to confirm subscription status and to provide us with aggregate subscription statistics (for example, how many subscriptions are active or have been cancelled). See RevenueCat’s privacy policy.

5. Our website (acuna.app)

Our website is a simple informational page. It is hosted by Vercel Inc. (USA), which may automatically process limited technical information (such as IP address and basic request logs) for the purpose of serving and securing the website, as is standard for web hosting.

The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts (Google Ireland Ltd. / Google LLC). When a page opens, your browser requests those font files directly from Google’s servers, and in doing so your IP address is transmitted to Google. This happens only to display the page correctly; no cookies are set by us for this purpose and no profile is built by us. If you prefer to avoid it, browser extensions that block third-party requests will prevent the font request — the site remains readable with your system fonts.

The website sets no advertising cookies and runs no behavioural-advertising trackers. If we add any analytics in the future, we will update this Policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.

6. If you contact us

If you email us (for example at support@acuna.app), we will receive your email address and the content of your message, and we will use them solely to respond to you and to keep a record of our correspondence.

7. Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK)

Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, we rely on the following legal bases for the limited processing we carry out:

8. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights over your personal data, including the rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. Because the app keeps your diary on your device and in your own iCloud, and we do not hold it, these rights primarily concern any correspondence you send us or purchase records held by Apple. To exercise your rights regarding data we hold (such as email correspondence), contact us at support@acuna.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Portugal, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD), or your local data protection authority.

9. Data retention

We keep email correspondence only for as long as needed to handle your request and to meet legal or accounting requirements, after which it is deleted. Your diary is retained on your device, and in your own iCloud if you use it, for as long as you choose to keep it; you control it entirely and can delete it at any time.

10. International transfers

Apple, RevenueCat, Google and our hosting provider may process limited information (such as purchase records, font requests or website request logs) on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. Where such transfers occur, they are carried out under appropriate safeguards (such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an applicable adequacy framework).

11. Children

Acuna relates to alcohol consumption and is intended for adults. The app is not directed to children and is not intended for anyone under the age of 18 (or the legal drinking age in your country, if higher). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

12. Security

Because your diary is stored on your device, its security depends primarily on your device’s own protections (such as your passcode and device encryption). We keep any information you send us (such as email) protected with reasonable measures.

13. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above and post the new version at this address. Significant changes will be made clear.
